An Individual chronological journal of thoughts, expressed freely to all. During my 12 years as a river guide, I've learned a lot about what it takes and what it means to be a professional white water rafting river guide. I've learned that it isn't just the excitement of of riding the rapids at over 40 MPH or the adrenyline that exicitement creates. It is also about the peaceful tranquility of the calm waters. That's when everything seems so clear.

Josh Who?

Josh White River Guide is a world class professional whitewater river rafting guide based out of Ocoee Tennessee. He first fell in love with whitewater at 10 while rafting with his family, following a swim in class III whitewater, Josh was rescued by a kayak who towed him away from a class 5 drop. Josh knew then that he wanted to kayak. Throughout his teen years Josh took every opportunity to canoe and raft, with family, church youth groups, and summer camp. While attending the University of Alabama Josh purchased and learned to roll his first kayak a Dagger Outburst which is still seen on the Ocoee River all these years later. After withdrawing from law school, Josh was looking for something meaningful and enjoyable to do with his life. He loaded up his truck and headed to the Ocoee River to become a guide in April of 2000. Josh has guided professional rafting trips ever since.

In November of 2002 Josh travelled to Vail Colorado for a season and learned to Snowboard. He now travels seasonally guiding any river he can find work on and working to support his snowboarding passion during the winter. When in Vail Colorado, Josh has had the pleasure to work for Piney River Ranch as a snowmobile guide and at Garfinkel's as a food service expediter. In January of 2011, Josh was able to make a long time dream come true by guiding the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. This life changing trip took 17 days and included 6 amazing guides and friends from the Ocoee rafting family. Josh was able to capture some incredible whitewater rafting video during this trip, which helped spur the idea and development of this site.

Josh hopes to be able to share his love of the outdoors in general and of rivers and mountains specifically with everyone who wants to learn. He is accomplishing this though video's, tutorials, blogs, and images. If you like this site, please contact Josh to let him know. If you are not finding the information you were looking for, please feel free to as any questions you would like. Due to the nature of his lifestyle it may take a few days for Josh to respond, however he is always willing to make time for your questions, comments, concerns, or criticism. You may also request a reservation for Josh White's services for your next Ocoee rafting trip from the contact Josh form on this page, simply leave the date requested and Josh will be in touch for booking information and availability.
